A few months ago, I donated one of my portrait photography packages for a fundraiser event for an MS event. The winner of this package was a friend of mine, Jasen!

Jasen is a talented very photographer himself and has a very wonderful family. One of the issues of being the photographer in the family is that most of family shots don’t involve you. So it was with great pleasure to be a photographer for him and his photogenic family.

We spent a couple of hours in Inglewood walking with Jasen, his wife and his adorable children. We had a great time and got some lovely images.

Please enjoy.

Throughout the year, I think of ways that I can give back to the community. Over the past year, I have contributed photography packages to a variety of causes and events. This year, one of my packages was offered to the Alberta Wilderness Association’s Climb And Run for Wilderness.

It was a great success and I loved being part of such a wonderful group of people! It just feels right to donate and share my time and efforts helping others and it is a bit addictive.

In continuing this spirit, I have decided to give away 5 free Portrait Photography Sessions for you!

“How?” you ask… well, read on…

Supporting The Kidney Foundation

My wife recently decided to participate in the Kidney Foundation’s Kidney March. She is a nurse at the Foothills hospital and she works with kidney patients on a daily basis. So she knows the impact kidney disease has on people.

Did you know that… (from KidneyMarch.ca)

“Two million Canadians have chronic kidney disease or are at risk.”

“Most people don’t know that they are at risk.”

“Most don’t know they have it until it’s too late.”

“In southern Alberta alone, the number of people living with chronic kidney failure has doubled in the last ten years”

“70% of people who are on the organ donor waiting list are waiting for a kidney.”

My Wife’s Story

Read about why my wife is participating by clicking this link —–> My Wife’s Story

My wife’s goal is to raise $2500 personally in support of the Kidney March and I want to be able to help her out.

So I decided that I will offer 5 free Portrait Photography Sessions to the first 5 people who donate $100 or more to support the Kidney Foundation.

You can read My Wife’s Story and click on the “Donate” button there.

An Email Letter Calling For Your Support

I sent out an email with the details of this cause to my newsletter subscribers. I am sharing this letter with you now.

Wishing you a very wonderful week!

Sincerely,

Thushyanthan

Hi,

On Sunday, I mentioned that my wife is doing the Kidney March in
support of the Kidney Foundation. My wife is a nurse at the
Foothills hospital and she works with kidney patients day in and
day out.

Because of her interactions with her patients, she decided to do
something about it. She is committed to marching 100km over 3 days
in September to help raise money and awareness for the Kidney
Foundation.

Read her story here ---> http://bit.ly/9H2CmU

Now I want to help her out! To do that I am going to offer a
portrait photography session. All you have to do is donate to the
Kidney Foundation by supporting my wife.

Your donation is tax deductible and will go a long way in
supporting the 2, 000, 000+ Canadians affected by kidney disease.

By donating any amount greater than $100 to my wife's cause before
July 31st, you will secure a portrait photography session with me.

Now, I have been quite busy with photography these past few
weeks so I am only offering 5 of these free sessions!

I will adjust my schedule and make some time for this portrait
photography session for you.

If this portrait session is not for you at this moment, please
forward this email along to your friends or family so that they can
capture their memories and help out a worthy cause at the same time!

My wife's story here ---> http://bit.ly/9H2CmU

I want to help my wife achieve her goal and I want to help out the
Kidney Foundation too! Please help me to do just that!

Wishing you a very wonderful day!

Very sincerely,
Thushyanthan

p.s. I am only going to offer this free session to the first 5
people who donate $100 or more.

p.p.s. Please pass this email along to someone you know who is
looking to help out!

Yee Haw!

Yesterday, I posted a short video about the Calgary Stampede Fireworks and today I’d like to share with you a few photos that I took while at the Stampede.

I usually try to make it out to the Stampede at least every 2-3 years. This year was a special time because it was my wife’s first time at the Stampede. That also meant first time eating Those Mini Donuts, visiting the Big 4 Building and so on.

Oh and the cotton candy and the “Bucket o’ Fries” too

Going to the Stampede is a great time. We went early in the morning, wandered about for a bit and played a few games.

My wife tried her luck throwing darts at balloons, tossing baseballs in buckets, picking up bottles and a couple more. She did end up winning 3 stuffed animals!

Here are the photos. Please enjoy!

The last time I had seen the fireworks at the Stampede was in 1999 Now that was a long time ago!

So it was a fun trip down memory lane to see the fireworks again. Here is a short video for you to enjoy. If you listen carefully, you can hear my new Nikon D700′s shutter clicking away in the background.

I’ll also pop in for a brief look around the 40 second mark.

Hope you had a great time at the Stampede too!

For one week in June, young female students from all around Canada are hosted by a participating post-secondary institution to “ignite enthusiasm for computer science in female students from across Canada.”

This initiative was originally started by the University of Waterloo in 1995 to promote and create activities and materials in mathematics and computer science. Today, 15 years later, it is Canada’s largest and most recognized outreach organization for these activities.

I was invited by the Department of Computer Science at the University of Calgary to take some photos of these young students.
